Below are some of the most common questions I get asked when out on the road.
Q: Does all that actually do anything or is it all for show?
A: Everything on the bike works and has a purpose, all the switches control various gadgets listed here
Q: Doesn't all that weight affect the steering and handling of the bike?
A: It does at first, but if you learn how to ride with the weight and control the bike under load it becomes a lot easier to ride
Q: How long did the bike take to build?
A: Four Years
Q: How does it fair in the rain?
A: Pretty well, the majority runs off an "analog" set up which is very reliable. Anything digital such as the rear view camera or circuitry for the ice indicators, phone chargers etc I have to be a bit more careful using in heavy downpours.
Q: Have you ever been electrocuted?
A: Yes, twice during a heavy downpour in Wales
Q: What do you do when you get a puncture?
A: Panic! Then usually find something I can hook the bike onto i.e. farmers gate, bench to hold all the weight whilst I remove the wheel (the bike can't be turned upside down without damaging parts)
Q: Why did you build it?
A: It was originally never intended to be what it's become, adding to it over time has resulted in it becoming what it is today. I could strip it back or not use it for touring/commuting but I've had too much positive feedback and made too many friends purely down to the bike to do so. It also got me my job!
Q: How does it fair up hills?
A: Slowly! The gearing at the moment (14.3 gear inches in the lowest) gives me just enough momentum to keep the bike balanced and the cranks spinning up extremely steep climbs. A lower gear wouldn't give me enough speed to keep the bike balanced and I'd end up falling off.
